Delicious Homemade Lasagna Recipe

Lasagna is a classic Italian dish that is loved by many around the world. It is a comfort food that brings people together, and its layers of pasta, sauce, cheese, and various fillings create a delightful combination of flavors and textures. In this recipe, we will guide you through the steps to create a mouthwatering homemade lasagna that will surely impress your family and friends. From the rich tomato sauce to the gooey cheese, this lasagna recipe is a crowd-pleaser that is perfect for any occasion.

One of the main ingredients in this lasagna recipe is ground beef. Ground beef adds a hearty and savory flavor to the dish. It is a great source of protein and essential nutrients like iron, zinc, and vitamin B12. The beef adds depth and richness to the tomato sauce, creating a delicious base for the layers of pasta and cheese. Additionally, the combination of ground beef and cheese provides a satisfying and filling meal that will leave you feeling satisfied.

Another key ingredient in this lasagna recipe is the cheese. Mozzarella cheese, with its gooey and stretchy texture, is perfect for lasagna. It melts beautifully and creates a delightful cheesy layer between the pasta and sauce. Mozzarella cheese is a good source of calcium and protein, making it a nutritious addition to the dish. It adds a creamy and indulgent element to the lasagna, making each bite a delightful experience.

Lastly, the pasta sheets are an essential component of lasagna. They provide structure to the dish and absorb the flavors of the sauce and fillings. Using fresh or oven-ready lasagna sheets ensures that the pasta cooks evenly and maintains its texture. The pasta sheets add a comforting and satisfying element to the lasagna, making it a complete and wholesome meal.

Ingredients:

- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 cups (500ml) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14 oz/400g) diced tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 9 lasagna sheets
- 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent and the beef is fully cooked. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.

3. Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine, and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

4. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place three lasagna sheets on top, overlapping slightly to cover the sauce.

5. Spread a layer of the meat sauce over the lasagna sheets, followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Repeat this layering process two more times, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.

6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

7. Once baked, remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
